Dancing King

One of my first dance friends, Brad, got married today.

I've known him since the days when he's had five girlfriends at a time, to when he's had one less than ideally matched girlfriend, to now, when he's married the right girl.

He and I would two-step at the Rhythm House and Saddleridge. He used to line dance, too, at first. But he seemed more interested in partner dances. In fact, I was delayed in learning the simple line dance to "Me and My Gang" because Brad and I would always hustle instead.

I've been dancing regularly for three years now. I've enjoyed country line dancing and partner dancing as a great way to stay fit for both its physical and mental challenges.

As far as partner dances go, I love the two-step. Hustle is fun, too. East coast swing is pretty basic. West coast swing is probably my least favorite, much to the chagrin of my dance teacher, Krissie, who is partial to that dance.

Brad has moved on to other types of dance over the years. At the reception, I met more of his current dance friends, most of whom liked to west coast and salsa.

I managed a hustle and a two-step with Brad. The two-step was to Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman." It was the only country song the DJ played all night, only because one of my tablemates had the CD. Ironically, the non-two-steppers in the crowd sang along at the top of their lungs.

Brad married Sarah, his new dance partner...on the dance floor and in life. They are very well-suited for each other. They had a wonderful wedding. I wish them a marvelous marriage.
