Fear

An excerpt from an emailed press release from a publicist promoting a book about career/life change...

"...Did you know that from age twenty-five to sixty-five, we spend 73,600 hours at work? And that eight-seven percent of Americans dislike their jobs? That means eighty-seven percent of Americans spend 73,600 hours doing something they don't like! But now, more than ever, people are fearful of losing what they hate! Does this make any sense?

WHAT WOULD PEOPLE DO IF THEY KNEW THEY COULD NOT FAIL?

Would they ask their boss for a raise?

Would they venture out on a new career or start a new business?

Would they stop choosing unhealthy relationships?

Would they stop settling in life?

Would they face the issues in their relationships?

Would they re-kindle that childhood dream and finally make it a reality?

Would they challenge themselves to increase their finances to a whole new level?

Would they walk away from all the drama in their life?"

...During this current economic downturn people are more fearful than ever. We have either adopted someone else's fear, watched it on television, or were raised in a home that shared the fear freely. "

Due to the current business climate, I have to be realistic and I am concerned about my job stability. At the same time, if I lost my job, I could spend more time with my new baby and have time to pursue my next professional goals.

Has the economic downturn caused you to be more cautious in your life? How? What would you do if you knew you wouldn't fail?
